Choosing the right riot shield

The right shield depends on how your officers will use it. When you request a quote, it helps to tell us about:

  • Deployment role: line and cordon work, arrest and snatch teams, cell extraction in custodial settings, or protection of officers at fixed sites.
  • Shape and size: full-size 1200 mm shields for lines and cordons, compact shields for mobile arrest teams, or 1800 mm interlocking shields for a continuous shield wall.
  • Visibility: the standard shield has transparency of 84% or more, the short and interlocking shields 70%.
  • Handling: all three shields have an adjustable strap; the standard shield also has a stitched arm attachment and an integrated baton seat.
  • Threat level: riot shields protect against thrown objects and blows. If officers may face firearms, see the ballistic shields in our Ballistics Clothing & Equipment range.
